Psalm 131:1

Oh Lord, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes haughty; nor do I involve myself in great matters.

I can only assume I am late on the news, as this past week was the first I heard about Grouply.com.  I read a warning about the site from one of my Yahoo Groups a few days ago, then today received an invitation from someone claiming to be from one of my Yahoo Groups inviting me to Grouply.  Since I wasn’t entirely sure what the story was, and I wanted to find out for my own benefit as well as to pass along anything I learned, I started some simple research.  I started with Snopes but came up empty after searching there.  Google search did land me on a Snopes Message Board entry though.  The best source of info I’ve found so far is a write up at NCS Tech. I won’t repeat the post, but I do want to point out something important that was noted (be sure to check out the entire post & comments over there – lots of good info) if you do fork over that Yahoo password:

Consider for a moment what information is controlled by your Yahoo! credentials … like all your Flickr photos; your Yahoo!Finance account information; your Yahoo! Security Key; all your Yahoo! profiles and identities; your OpenID key; your home address and telephone number; your Yahoo!Wallet information, even your Yahoo!Auctions account. Yep. Once you’ve given out your password, they have access to all of that, regardless if they have NO INTENTIONS WHATSOEVER of using it.

If you follow the comments on that post, you’ll notice that the IM-only (?) service Meebo also uses your passwords and CAN potentially access any info associated with your Instant Messenger application(s). Also in comments is a response from one of the founders of Grouply and he admits that they do infact store your Yahoo user ID and password.

So….  Do you use Grouply?  Have you done your own research on this issue?  This is still new to me and I am not willing to hand over my Yahoo ID & password, just to read group mail through their service, but I would be interested in what others think and where y’all stand on this issue and service.

That’s the actual name of this book!  I don’t have a copy of it, so I can’t give my personal opinion, but it looks great.  It says ages 4-8, so it isn’t the age range we’d be looking for, but I figured I’d share anyway. It was on my “recommended list” at Amazon; I guess because of the travel car seat table / tray I purchased a little while back.  There are a bunch of similar books too(Amazon always lines up a bunch of similar products when you are checking something out, LOL!) that I’m still perusing through.

Today (Saturday) was a great shopping day!

Publix (grocery store): Spent about $23 and saved $70-ish.

Target: Spent $12 but haven’t figured out the savings yet.  Hit the 75% off dollar spot, got 15 packs of Huggies travel wipes and 6 Healthy Life cat food (16 oz pouches).  Was going to pick up some Joint Juice waters (9 cents after coupon), but they are no longer in the water section.  Where’d they go?

CVS: Spent about a buck and a half and got (4) 24 packs of Zephyrhills water (pretty much the only kind I like) and gum. I had a raincheck & got the water for half the price it was posted at and I had ECBs I had to burn up before they expired.  I didn’t have the Life Savers coupons (not in my paper) so I couldn’t take advantage of  those freebies (bogo sale + bogo coupon = FREE!).  My Intuition coupon was only $3 instead of $4, so although that would have been a “good deal” ($4+ for 2 razors) it just didn’t do it for me this time, LOL!  So I got the water and  butned up the ECBs!

I took pics of each transaction and will post the pics and details Sunday or Monday.  It feels GREAT to get back into it after a little pause.  My totals at the grocery store “reminded” me why I love deal shopping.  It is kinda like a game to see how much I can get for how little!

In total I spent about $37 and came home with a trunk full!

I also have to say I am really starting to love the reuseable shopping bags.  My plan is to buy (2) bags each time I go to Publix.  I currently have 6, including 2 I bought tonight.  I also have a couple of Walmart reuseable bags that I’m not as crazy about.  I like that the Publix bags have a solid bottom piece.  I’ve wanted to check out Target’s, but everytime I’ve been there they are out.  Do they just not reorder them or do they really sell out that fast?  That seems hard to believe because they are priced @ $1.49 where most other places sel them for $1.

Stay tuned for the pics and details!  🙂
